Our Mission
Mount Vernon Christian Church, a historic and integral hallmark of Clayton, North Carolina, endeavors to bring persons into awareness of their spiritual selves as found in and articulated by Jesus Christ. We are called to minister to God’s people through preaching, teaching, prayer, worship and discipleship. We understand ourselves to be a light to those lost, confused, in need of redemption, wholeness and the purest expression of God’s love through his son, Jesus Christ.
Our History
MVCC’s denominational roots are found in the Christian Church, the first indigenous American denomination. We were affiliated with the Afro-Christian Convention, centrally located in North Carolina and Virginia. Our church practices congregational polity.
